FAQ – Online Training Courses

With technology changing constantly, we’ve paid attention to this and are on the cutting edge of new modes of education. We are very proud to bring to you our ONLINE courses.

This approach to teaching is unique within the Spa industry. Not only will you learn everything that is taught within the traditional school environment, but you’ll learn all this within the comfort of your home or office.

There is no longer the need to attend regular set classroom time, which will save you time and money. Just ‘attend’ classes when it’s convenient for you and your demanding schedule. As well, you no longer have the added expenses which come with attending conventional schools (babysitter, parking, gas etc) as well as all the other expenses associated with “traditional” teaching methods.

We’ve enjoyed great success in teaching our online courses, and have graduated many satisfied students.

NOTE: you’ll receive your Diploma upon successful completion of all our courses.

Unlike traditional schools, colleges or universities, there are no terms, semesters, or specified intake dates for our uniquely flexible at home learn classes. Our system of continuous enrolment means that you can enrol on any day at any time of the year. This allows you the freedom to plan your studies to fit into your lifestyle.

All theory and practical applications are taught online and all courses are self-paced

Once you are enrolled and have created a student profile, you will have 24 hour full access to your online course and will be able to log in and out as your schedule permits.

After each chapter, there is an online multiple choice exam. Your answers will be corrected immediately upon submission. You’ll be tutored through a series of online videos, which walk you through each and every step of nail application and techniques.

You’re required to perform the practical assignments for some of the courses – the procedure will be explained in more detail once enrolled in a particular course.

You will also be required to write exams on the theory.

“Pricing for all of our courses reflect tuition and online fees only.  Registration, text books, course supplies and shipping are additional.  Upon enrollment for your course, you will be issued a student card which will allow you to shop at beauty suppliers for your course materials.  Our sister company www.NailTechStore.ca carries all the pre-made kits and additional supplies for your course.

While the industry products have advanced, so have the tools available for teaching. Previously, you had to have a model sit for hours while you practiced. We now have state of the art model hands that look and move just like a human hand, for you to learn on. Instead of a school that you have to go to daily, we have online courses. How can it get more convenient than that?

If you take away the need for a live model, take away the school building and replace them with a model hand and an online course, you now have the Nail Tech online course! *NOTE: The nail trainer hand applies only to the Fully Qualified and Artificial Nail Tech courses.  Live models are needed for the Natural Nail Tech course (or Module 6 of FQNT)*

We’ve spent the last few years developing our courses to offer you the best training possible. We’ll provide you with a training hand and the products needed. All you need is a table and a computer. *Please refer to individual course information for required course supplies*

This course lends itself perfectly for all single and/or stay at home parents, students who can’t get to a school in their area, full time employees who can’t quit work to attend school, as well as anyone wanting to take a course in their free time, be it evenings or weekends.

While very convenient, the “online” method of teaching isn’t for everyone, (although many find it to be “their solution” to acquiring their education), you’ll need to possess a strong sense of self-discipline and determination, as learning now depends on YOU.

We offer courses in the fundamentals of Nail Technology (Gel, Acrylic, E-File, Nail Art), or Manicure & Pedicure, Eyelash Extensions, Esthetics and Spa Therapy.

Our courses are broken down into different modules so you can take them one by one. Whether you are just a beginner or wanting an upgrade, we are your solution. All theory and practical applications are taught online.

Our team has years of experience.
Our Head instructor has over 34 years of experience in Esthetics, Spa Therapy and Nail Technology. She displays a wall of certificates in many areas of the beauty industry, and still takes advanced upgrading classes to this day, not only in this field but is also delving into the technology areas. Along with her many years of practical experience and continuous teaching, she is certified as an instructor of adult education by NACC (National Association of Career Colleges). She has owned many business from small nail salons to full service day spas, and has planned each one from start to finish. Her years spent being an educator and manufacturers rep (on the road sales) and working in many trade shows only adds to her wealth of knowledge. You can find her at the judges table in the Canada Nail Cup. Be assured she is knowledgeable in EVERY area of the beauty industry, and if there is something she does not know she can pull from a vast array of professional colleagues she has befriended along her journey.

Our administration, computer and tech support bring over 30 years of experience with them. So you are in good hands. Should you have a question you will usually have an answer within 24 hours if not immediately.

Assessments vary depending on the particular course you have chosen,

“The Nail Tech Courses – you will perform nail applications on a nail trainer hand and when you are satisfied with your work, you  will be required to take photographs of your assignment and email them to the office for grading. You will receive a video detailing the perfect areas as well as the areas that require attention.  Once one module has been completed, you can then proceed to the next module.  There are 35-48 practical assignments and between 15-22 exams (depending on the course)”

The Esthetic / Spa Therapy course is theory only. All exams are completed online. We suggest you contact a local salon/spa in your area to apprentice.

The Eye Lash Course is also delivered online through videos and theory. You will be required to perform services on a mannequin head and when confident with your skill you will apply lashes to a live model and submit photos for grading.

Mirage Spa Education is a Registered Trade School with PTIB (Private Training Institutions Branch) with the Ministry of Advanced Education Skills and Training.

Upon successful completion of the course you will receive a numbered Diploma and official transcripts.

That is what is so wonderful about this course – it is what you make it. You can choose to commit to it full time, or take 9-12 months to complete- depending on the course. If you commit to it you can complete in as little as 10-12 weeks.

If you are looking into the nail industry as a career choice, it’s a good one. You can offer nail services virtually anywhere. This includes but is not limited to anything from a small table in your home to luxury spas, and anywhere in between. With so many people choosing to have nails today, the market is virtually endless. You can offer all nail services or specialize. Be assured there is a fit for you in the industry. You may even wish to be a sales rep for a nail company.

Should you choose a career in Esthetics or Spa Therapy you can choose to “do it all” or specialize in a particular area. Once you have the fundamentals you can advance your skills into very specialized areas such as medical esthetics, massage therapy, laser treatments, anti-aging or skin rejuvenation, professional make up artistry just to name a few.
